About This Grant
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), in partnership with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), is providing funding for a UK-US collaborative project. The objective is to develop new representations of key processes regulating ocean carbon storage for use in global models. This opportunity forms part of the BIO-Carbon programme. Project leads and UK researchers must be based at an eligible UK research organisation, while US researchers must be affiliated with a US institution. Applicants must first submit a Notification of Intent (NoI) to be eligible to submit a full application.

Contracts for Innovation: Enabling Commercial Quantum Networking
Innovate UK is investing up to £20 million in this Contracts for Innovation competition to accelerate the development of enabling components and sub-systems for commercial quantum networks. The aim is to develop a deployable prototype that sits in the supply chain of a system integrator or service provider, ultimately strengthening the UK's position in the global quantum technology supply chain.
Future offshore wind technologies: feasibility studies
Innovate UK is investing up to £10 million (across two strands) to support early-stage feasibility studies within the offshore wind sector. Aligned with the Offshore Wind Industrial Growth Plan, this funding aims to prepare high-growth UK businesses and technologies for scale-up and future commercial deployment. Proposals must focus on advanced turbine technology, industrialised foundations and substructures, future electrical systems and cables, smart environmental services, or next-generation installations, operations, and maintenance.
Doctoral focal award: environmental evidence synthesis
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) are funding up to two doctoral focal awards in environmental evidence synthesis. This funding will equip the next generation of PhD researchers with advanced evidence synthesis methodologies, enabling them to critically appraise and communicate environmental information to inform policy and practice. The award covers cohort-level training and individual research projects spanning environmental and social sciences.
